Tube Cutting Services

Round, square, rectangular and oval tube cut, notched and profiled on an optical fiber laser — accurate to the micron, burr-free, and ready to weld straight off the machine.

Tube, Cut Exactly
As Drawn

Tube cutting is what FABPRO was built around. Our optical fiber laser tube cutting service handles round, square, rectangular and oval section — cutting to length, notching joints and profiling features into the tube wall in a single programmed operation.

The advantage is not just a cleaner cut. It is that everything the part needs happens at once. Mitres, saddles, bolt holes, slots and assembly marks are all cut in the same setup — so nothing has to be marked out, drilled, ground or deburred afterwards, and nothing drifts out of position between operations.

The result is tube that arrives at your weld bay fitting together the way the drawing said it would.

Round, Square
& Rectangular

Every common hollow section, cut within a Ø12mm to Ø280mm envelope.

Round Tube

Ø12mm – Ø280mm

Cut to length with mitres, saddles and copes for welded frames. Round section is where tube laser cutting saves the most time — every intersection is cut to fit instead of ground in by hand.

Square Tube

19×19mm – 280×280mm

Square hollow section cut to length with slots, hole patterns and notched corners. Ideal for frames, structures and slot-together assemblies that need to self-locate before welding.

Rectangular Tube

Up to 280×280mm

Rectangular hollow section with features cut on all four faces in a single setup — no re-fixturing, no accumulated error between operations.

Oval Tube

Mild steel & aluminium

Oval profile cut cleanly to length and to shape — used widely in furniture, shopfitting and architectural work where a flat-sided round is wanted.

Cutting, Notching
& Profiling

Three capabilities, one machine, one setup — which is exactly why the parts fit.

Tube Cutting

Cut to length. Accurately. Every time.

Straight cuts, angled cuts and mitres held to tight tolerance across the whole run. Because the cut is programmed from your CAD file rather than marked out, the five hundredth part is dimensionally identical to the first — no creeping error, no re-measuring between pieces.

  • Cut-to-length in round, square, rectangular and oval profile
  • Single and compound mitres for welded frame corners
  • Burr-free edges — no deburring before welding
  • Batch runs up to 6,000mm finished length

Tube Notching

Joints that fit before they are welded.

Tube notching cuts the saddle, cope or fishmouth into the tube end so it seats cleanly against the mating section. Done on the laser, the notch matches the exact diameter and intersection angle of the joining tube — which means tighter fit-up, less weld filler, and far stronger, cleaner joints.

  • Saddle and fishmouth notches cut to mating diameter
  • Angled and offset intersections cut to drawing
  • Multiple notches per part in one setup
  • Tight fit-up reduces weld time and distortion

Tube Profiling

Everything the part needs, cut on the machine.

Tube profiling covers every feature cut into the tube wall — slots, hole patterns, apertures, engraved part numbers and decorative cut-outs — as well as fully shaped ends. It replaces the drilling, punching and grinding stages entirely, so components leave us assembly-ready.

  • Slots, apertures and hole patterns cut into tube walls
  • Complex profiled and shaped tube ends
  • Decorative and perforated patterns for architectural work
  • Part numbers and assembly marks etched in place

What It Saves You

One Setup, Every Feature

Cut, notch, slot and mark in a single operation. Nothing is re-fixtured, so nothing drifts out of position between steps.

Assembly-Ready Parts

Components arrive burr-free with joints that seat first time — your welders assemble instead of preparing.

No Tooling Costs

Programmed cutting means no dies, no jigs, no minimum order to justify. Prototypes and one-offs are genuinely economical.

Consistent Across Batches

Re-order in six months and the parts match the originals exactly — the program is kept on file.

Less Material Waste

Efficient nesting across the 6,500mm feed length gets more finished parts out of every stick of tube.

Faster Through Your Shop

Removing drilling, deburring and grinding from downstream work compresses the whole fabrication schedule.

From Drawing to Delivery

01

Send Your Drawings

DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES or a dimensioned PDF — whatever you have. We review the geometry and flag anything worth optimising for tube laser cutting.

Tube Cutting Questions, Answered

Ask us directly
What tube profiles and sizes can you cut?
Round tube from Ø12mm up to Ø280mm, and square or rectangular hollow section from 19×19mm up to 280×280mm. We also cut oval profile in mild steel and aluminium. Material feed length is up to 6,500mm, producing finished parts up to 6,000mm long.
What is tube notching and when do I need it?
Tube notching cuts a saddle, cope or fishmouth into the end of a tube so it seats flush against the tube it joins. You need it wherever round tube meets round tube — frames, handrails, roll cages, balustrades. Cutting the notch on the laser means it matches the mating diameter and angle exactly, giving tight fit-up, less weld filler and a much stronger, cleaner joint than a hand-ground notch.
What is the difference between tube cutting and tube profiling?
Tube cutting is getting the section to the right length and end angle. Tube profiling is everything cut into the tube beyond that — slots, hole patterns, apertures, shaped ends and etched marks. Both happen in the same operation on our machine, so profiling generally adds programming time rather than a whole extra process.
Can you cut stainless steel and aluminium tube?
Yes. Stainless steel up to 8mm and aluminium up to 10mm wall thickness, plus mild steel up to 12mm. We handle stainless steel tubing, aluminium tubing and thick-gauge schedule tubing in all standard grades. See our laser cutting page for the full material breakdown.
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
No. Laser cutting is programmed rather than tooled, so there is no tooling cost to spread across a large run. We cut single prototype pieces and full production batches with the same accuracy — and quote both.
Can you supply the tube, or do I send my own?
Either works. We can source material to your specified grade and wall thickness, or cut material you free-issue to us. Tell us which when you send your drawings and we will quote accordingly.
How quickly can you turn a tube cutting job around?
Setup on a tube laser is fast, so lead time is usually driven by material availability and current schedule rather than machine time. Send your requirement with the deadline attached — we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it before you commit.
